Raised in the east bay area of northern California, Carlos Córdova is a graduate

of the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he received a bachelor’s

degree in art. After studying at the Universidad Autónoma in Mexico City, he

completed a master’s degree in art at California State University, Northridge.


In 1982 Córdova moved to New York City where he began a 25-year career in

graphic design. While working for various clients in New York and Los Angeles

he developed a love for design and typography. His fine art is a gradual

development of a technique started while in college. He began utilizing collage

and graphite pencils to create formalized compositions of human figures within

stark environments. The influence for a recent series of works is spiritually based.


He is a design consultant, fine artist and college instructor of art and design in

Ventura County, California.
